NEWS IN: “Ghana Card To Be Used As TIN, Effective April 1st”- GRA

Every Ghanaian Citizen living within the country and abroad has the right to be in the National Identification System and citizens from age zero(0) are entitled to be issued with a national ID card, as required by the law, to provide added convenience and ease when conducting with public sector institutions, civil society organizations and private sector businesses.

Millions of Ghanaians have been able to acquire their Ghana Card since the time it was implemented in the year 2020 before the general election.

As it stands now, the world is becoming more paperless and convenient as a result of digitalization and technology.

Pertaining to that development, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has put down measures to collaborate with the National Identification Authority (NIA) to make things more convenient and ease pressure.

“We are collaborating with the National Identification Authority (NIA) with effect from April 1, we are going to emerge drivers license, Health Insurance, etc on one card which is the Ghana card, this is mostly done in the developed countries and we need to change our system”, The Ashanti regional commissioner for the Ghana Revenue Authority, Mr .Samuel  Sakyi Duodo told the press .

In addition, Mr. Duodo stated, individuals will only have to walk into our offices for the registration.

“It’s obvious, we are going to use the Ghana Card as “TIN”.

“Very soon , Ghanaians won’t carry plenty cards with them as previous, we will have the NIA officers here in our office when the exercise commences , we have special features on the Ghana card which makes it original, moreover, the NIA have machines to authenticate it originality, basically we are doing this to get accurate information of every Ghanaian purposely for business and security reasons”, he reiterated.

He said that,the GRA has its sole aim of helping the government develop the country.

“Sixty billion old cedis target for 2021 is not anything huge , we can even exceed that, we know our strength, truly our vision is to build the nation through payment of taxes, last year  for instance ,the covid was a major hindrance but we did our best , I will urge all Ghanaians to join hands to the development of the country”.

In conclusion ,the tax expert and auditor called on the staff of GRA to also help meet their target for the year.
