WAEC 2020 Awards: Ghana Wins Top 3 International Excellence Awards- Check out details
Three students from Ghana have won the highest International Excellence Award organized by the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) to award candidates who did very well in the 2020 WASSCE.

Award Winners
1. Mr Cecil Tetteh Kumah, a former student of Mfantsipim Senior High School was named the overall best student in the 2020 WASSCE which was written by over 2 million students from five nations in Africa.

He reached a total points of 650.1328. He was awarded with a price of $1,500 cheque as the winner. He is currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical engineering and computer science at Columbia university in the United States.
2. Mr Godfred Asede Obeng was awarded the second price of the International Excellence Award for WASSCE candidates 2020. He also received a total score of 625.6953. He was awarded with $1,200.
3. Miss Ansah Afua Manukure who won the Overall third best also received a total of 624.640 points. She was awarded $900. She is currently studying at Cornel University in the United States.
Award Criteria
Only candidates with a minimum of eight grade A1s in one sitting, without any suggestions of impropriety are eligible for the awards.

The raw score of the candidates are translated to T- Score which are then used to rate them.
In the event of time, the T-scores of the candidates in their common subjects (English and Mathematics) are used.
Where there is still a tie, the raw scores of the candidates in the core subjects are used and in the event of a further tie, the T-scores of the best of the candidates remaining core subjects are used
Certificates were presented to them by the Director General of Education, Prof Opoku Amankwah.
