Ejisu STHS Assistant Headmaster Asked To Step Aside After Detaining 2 Students For Alleged Theft

Assistance Headmaster of the Ejisu Secondary Technical School who detained two students overnight in his office for alleged stealing the school’s electrical stabiliser worth Ghs 4,000 has been asked to step aside from official duties.

They were striped half- naked and locked up by the Assistant Headmaster overnight where the student who attempted suicide drank liquid soap, leading to his hospitalisation.

The decision of the Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Mary Owusu Afriyie, on behalf of Ghana Education Service has initiated processes to haul Mr Appiah before a disciplinary committee.

The decision was made after the police in the Ashanti Region invited the Assistant Headmaster of Ejisu Secondary Technical School for questioning over the detaining of two students in his office.

Public Relations officer at the Ashanti Region Commands, ASP Godwin Ahianyo described the action as illegal and condemnable. He then stated that ” he has no right to treat a student that way”.
