Poor Implementation of Free SHS By Akufo Addo -Mr John Mahama

Former president of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama has hit back at His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for poor Implementation of Free education programme.

Addressing the people and the chiefs of the Avenor Traditional Council in the Akatsi South Constituency on Tuesday, August 18 as part of his four days Volta Region tour.

According to him, the current government should have completed the schools he started before rolling out the policy full-scale.

In his declaration, he pointed out that ” we started it, it is in our Constitution. We started in 2015 and made it free for only day students which will be scaled to include boarding students as well”.

“So it is logical that this government should continue with free SHS but the mode of implementation has been very poor” he stated.

“All claims suggesting that I will cancel the programme if I regain power should be considered as false. What we are going to do is to make it better”.

He said that the double track policy will be eliminated in few months of his return to power as more schools will be put up.

He emphatically added that, “I have already built 200 schools before leaving government, and with each school to take a capacity of 1,000 students. The NDC government will create room for 20,000 extra students in order to banish the double track system.

Information gathered by HonestyNewsGh states that he will proceed to adjoining Oti region for another three days of tour.
