Official: UTAG declares strike
A press statement from The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) sighted by Honestynewgh.com wishes to notify all its members to withdraw all teaching and related activities with effect from Monday, August 2.
The release signed by National President Professor Charles Marfo and National Secretary Dr Eric Abavare on Friday, July 30 indicated that all campuses are to withdraw teaching, examinations, invigilation, marking of exam scripts, and processing of exam results services, among others, until further notice.

This appears to follow a breakdown in negotiations with government over the university teachers’ conditions of service including research allowances.
Sources indicate that there was a meeting held between a government team including representatives from the Finance and education ministries and UTAG on Friday over the latter’s concerns. A committee to be constituted within 30 days to consider all issues related to salaries and make recommendations.
