It is expected of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to release Examination results at most 60 days after the last paper. Last year, WAEC announced that it will release the examination results 45 days after the last paper which ended on 19th November, 2021.
The delay has raised a lot of questions and false answers on social media. But an official from WAEC has explained why the release of the 2021 BECE results has delayed.
According to him, the council had no idea it would be organising National Standardized Test for Basic 4 pupils on 17th” December, 2021. Again, WASSCE for the private candidate was ongoing at that time’ he added.
After the exams, WAEC invites all the Chief Examiners, together with the subject officers/specialists to help prepare the marking schemes, followed by training sessions for zonal leaders before the national coordination and marking exercise can commence. After all the scripts have been marked and vetted by supervisors, different sets of people are invited to crosscheck all the marked scripts before the marks can be entered on the computers.
According to the man all these processes are meant to ensure that the results are credible.
However, the Council has assured that the general public, students, and parents are to expect the release of the results at the end of February 2022.
When the results from WAEC gets released online, it will take two or three weeks to work on the placement of the candidates so that they can later report to school on April 4, 2022.
According to the Council, the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal have been upgraded to ensure smooth checking of 2021 School placement without any further challenges.
Parent, Candidates and the General Public are admonished to stay calm and ignore all false information in the public domain in connection with the delay.
