Teacher Professionalism: GNACOPS and NTC Issue Certificates to Private School Teachers

The Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (-GNACOPS) through the National Teaching Council have launched a nationwide training program to prepare the private school teachers to become professional teachers.

Through the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, 200 Masters have been trained, certified and commissioned to train all private school teachers across the country.

Thus is in fulfilment of the Ministry’s objective of having teachers professionalism as part of the ongoing Reforms in the sector.

The Nationwide training commenced two weeks ago and according to GNACOPS, they have trained over 100 teachers in the private schools ready to enter into the teachers professionalism.

The Ministry of Education wishes to ensure sanity and quality assurance in the private schools to meet global standard of Education set by UNESCO.

According to Mr. Enoch Kwesi Guetuah, the Executive Director of GNACOPS, their engagements with the Ministry has given them the opportunity to train their teachers CCP and SBC through NaCCA and jointly issued a participatory certificate that will serve as a provisional certificate which will be valid for three years but renewal every year through NTC and to all those who will receive their training.
