The President of the National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Philippa Larsen at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday 7th December has asked the government to supply the laptops to teachers before the end of the year since the monies has been deducted.
According to Philippa Larsen the pre-finanacial agreement between the GES and GISOPS, the cost per teacher is Ghc 549.44 as a result of the 18.16 per cent interest rate on the Ghc 465. The price further reduced to Ghc 509 due to the intervention of the unions and the Minster of Education who indicated that the 18.16 per cent cannot be charged on the entire 30 per cent portion of the teacher.
“We demand from the management of GES to ensure that by the close of Friday 31st December 2021 all laptops should be supplied to all teachers whose monies have been deducted”,she said.
Speaking at the press conference Mr Angel Carbonu was asked by a journalist on what he has to say concerning ATAG Demonstration and the court suit. Proudly Mr. Carbonu said;
“The interesting thing is that we don’t really know them, we don’t know what is motivating those group of people and we don’t know the details of the suit that they have sent to court so it will be very difficult to comment on that.
“Whoever they are in tango with, I am very sure that they will be able to get explanations from whoever, or the court will decide as to the legitimacy of the case that they have sent to court”, Mr Carbonu’s reply to a question from one journalist.
