NEWS IN: Hold on to the signing of performance contract until further notice- CoHBS to headteachers

The National Executive Council of Conference of Heads of Basic Schools (CoHBS) comprising National Executive Officers and Chairpersons, Secretaries and Treasurers of the 16 Administrative Regions has called on all heads of Basic Schools to hold on to the Signing of the Performance Contract with the Employer until Government and Parents fulfill their Obligation on the part of the Contract.

According to the information released, the decision taken by CoHBS was based on the notion that the Ministry of Education (MoE) in collaboration with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) failed to provide textbooks based on the new curriculum for Basic Schools. Also, the government has refused to pay a capitation Grant for almost two years.

2. The fate of the current JHS ones not known

3. There is inadequate furniture in some of our schools

4 . No upgrading since 2018 and many more.

According to CoHBS the employer is only interested in the employees signing of the performance contracts but has failed to consider the well-being of the teachers and the heads. They further engaged the General Secretary of GNAT and he promised to meet Management to deliberate on the issue. CoHBS has, therefore emphasize that no headteacher should sign the performance contract document until further notice.
