GNAT issues a vital message to teachers concerning the ongoing strike action

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) through a text message has informed all its members to stay home as the strike action continues.

“We wish to inform the rank and file of our members that effective Friday, 4th November, 2022, GNAT and the other
teacher unions hereby declare an indefinite strike over the appointment of the new Director General of GES and other issues related to our conditions of service”.

“You are therefore advised to stay away from work indefinitely until you hear from us your union leaders”.

This comes on the back of the expiration of an ultimatum the teacher unions gave the government to rescind its decision on Dr. Nkansah’s appointment.

Addressing the media after a meeting with the ministry of employment and labour relations, President of GNAT, Rev. Isaac Owusu said they will not call off the strike until government addresses their concerns.
