FIX-PCE: The Brouhaha Between PCE 2020 Year Of Graduands & Management. Check out details of the issues

Report from Presbyterian College Of Education (PCE), the mother of all schools indicates that there is a heated brouhaha between the 2020 year group graduands and the school management.

Democracy which we grew up knowing in the country is not practiced in all areas in our motherland fearfully to say.

Presbyterian college of Education students’ deserve better. What happened to our CGPA, why the u-turn in the decision of management in terms of documents to be given to 2020 graduands,  thus Certificate, transcript, certified true copies, attestation and testimonial? ..a graduand quizzes.

The Issue On CGPA

Presbyterian college of Education, the premier college in the country since 1848, has seen great excellence as the years go by.

According to report gathered, the 2020 year group did not only maintain the success of the college but took the college to a higher height by recording as many as 32 First classes per the release of pass list from UCC initially and a good number for the second class honors ( upper and lower divisions). Few days to graduation which is scheduled for 30th July 2021, students were sent a different pass list which sees a decrease in the first class and second class divisions respectively.

The question is, who made this mistake? The college or UCC who is certified to award students certificate?

The Issue On Documentation

Again to the matter of documents, students from the Presbyterian college of education -Akropong. Went into a verbal agreement with management as to how documents aforementioned will be given to students at a fee.
That is, certificate GHc 150.00, Certified true copies GHc 50.00 and transcript at a cost of GHc 100.00. Students were told they will be given, one, five and two numbers of documents respectively.

Unfortunately, management of the college have done a u-turn about the decision initially taken saying that students will now be given only one Certified true copy at a rate of Ghc50.00 and one transcript at a rate of Ghc100.The students body therefore sees this decision as fishy and unfair.

Again, on the issue of graduation ceremony attendance, the management of the school initially issued a firm directive to the 2020 graduands and  graduands of 2019 year group who were not able to have their graduation ceremony due to the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic that only students who attained first class and second class upper division are eligible to attend the upcoming graduation ceremony. Still not satisfied with that, the management has again made a u-turn that only 30 students of the 2019 year group can attend the ceremony.

Pertaining to that directive, graduands of the 2019 year group have agitated many times for refund but from the look of things, the authorities of the school have turned deaf ear to their request. According to the students, authorities are intentionally using all means to squander their monies.

It is very sad to know that management of the college haven’t come out clear with answers to these issues.

In regards to this, the SRC and the students body is asking the Old Students Association and other Stakeholders to speak into the matter to see to it that the authorities of the school will come out with an inform decision for the betterment of the college.
