BECE Registration

Here is the latest update on the illegalities of BECE registration of students for the examination.

REGISTRATION OF UNQUALIFIED STUDENTS (JHS1 AND JH52 STUDENTS) – BECE REGISTRATION

BECE registration

The Management of the Ghana Education Service wishes to remind all Heads of
Basic Schools (both public and private) that registration of JHS1 and JHS2 for the
BECE is ILLEGAL.

Registration of candidates for the BECE is strictly for students in Junior High School Form Three (JHS3) only.

It is against the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the West African Examinations Council’s (WAEC) Rules and Regulations to register JHS1 and JHS2 students either in their own schools or in different schools to write the BECE.

Also, it is ILLEGAL for any Head of public basic school to register JHS3 students from
another school (public or private) to write the BECE.

BECE REGISTRATION- INTERVENTIONS / SANCTIONS

Please note that there will be an audit of the BECE registered candidates immediately after the registration exercise. Any student found to have been registered illegally will have his/her registration NULLIFIED by WAEC.

Headteacher involved will be severely sanctioned to serve as a deterrent to
others.

The period for the registration of the candidates which will be set by WAEC should
be strictly complied with to avoid late registration.

By this letter, Regional Directors of Education are requested to communicate this
information to Metro/Municipal/District Directors of Education to inform all Heads of Basic Schools to take note and comply with the above directives to ensure a smooth BECE registration exercise.
